This year, at our 8th Annual Apple Pie in July baking contest, residents and associates became heavily competitive in the best way possible, making mom proud for the award for most delicious apple pie. Using original (or mom’s) recipes that they’ve perfected, our contestants showed-off their baking talents for everyone to witness. Our amazing guest judges from the City of Pasadena had the difficult task of tasting each pie and deciding whose mouth-watering confection stands above them all! Mayor Max Elson, Commissioners Ben Thomas and Gail Neidinger along with Fire Cheif David Mixon had their bellies full of apple love but ultimately decided on the top three best pies of the 6 entered.
In 3rd Place with her Warm Butter Rum Apple Pie, Eva Viera, who entered for the very first time!
2nd Place, entering in for the 2nd year was the Assisted Living Administration Team with their Sweet Surprise Apple Pie.
Finally in 1st Place, having won this title before but having also placed for the last few years consecutively, was The Gardens team and residents with their Cinfully Delicious Apple Pie!
Other Pies included Pie So Fly by the Assisted Living team, Apple Pie in a Brown Bag by Resident Vitoria Scheler, Made with Love Apple Pie by Melissa Krysh and her kids. It was a great time had by all and a tradition we truly cherish here at The Fountains!
