This year, Oktoberfest technically started on September 19th and ran through October 4th, but The Fountains is celebrating throughout the whole month! The first event was a Deutschland themed Two Chefs – our monthly cooking show where we sample a three course meal with accompanying wine/beer. The beer was overflowing and was served by our associates dressed as traditional beer maidens and even a few of our male associates in lederhosen.
For the first course, we served German potato pancakes with sour cream and scallions with a Bavarian style beer. The second course was Sauerbraten paired with a German pilsner. The third, and favorite course by far, was German chocolate cheesecake paired with “Hofbrau Munchen” beer. Our hosts, chefs Johnny and Cathy, gave us the history of Oktoberfest and residents around the room shared their favorite phrases in German. And of course, it wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without a prost! We all raised our beer and toasted to a delicious meal and a great party!
