ENJOY EVERY MOMENT
How would you rate your everyday enjoyment of life itself? The right retirement community can make all the difference.
“It’s not the last chapter, it’s the next chapter. And here we are in the next chapter, we’re turning the pages…and that’s the beauty of life.” – Brenda Uskavitch, resident of The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay
MEET BRENDA AND STAN USKAVITCH, NEWLYWEDS THRILLED TO BE ENJOYING CAREFREE LIVING WITH A WATERFRONT VIEW.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Brenda and Stan Uskavitch on Thursday, May 4th, 2017. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)
After Stan and Brenda met by chance six years ago in Moline, Illinois, their romantic spark ignited a beautiful second marriage. At 86 and 69 today, this vivacious couple is affectionately known as “the newlyweds.” Earlier this year, determined never to relive the loneliness that sets in after losing a spouse, they sold their Bay Island condominium (in 23 hours!) and moved into a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath residence at The Fountains. Stan’s art collection from his days with John Deere’s international division fits perfectly in their 12th story residence overlooking Boca Ciega Bay. In the first two months alone, they entertained 100 guests. Knowing their future is secure, Brenda calls it “the best place to live on earth.”
WHY WORRY ABOUT A THING?
After losing their original spouses, Brenda and Stan Uskavitch felt lost themselves. When they found each other, they never wanted to worry about what would happen to the other. Nor did they ever want to burden their kids. So they took action. Now they don’t worry about a thing. “Most people don’t think about it until you are right in it, until you are there, and then you are like, oh my gosh. But, The Fountains is such a beautiful solution to life. I think it is. I mean, it is for the rest of your life. There’s all the different areas. I mean, moving from one stage to the last stage of your life is so beautiful. And it’s reassuring to think you don’t have to worry about anything. Nothing.” – Brenda Uskavitch
SIMPLY AND COMPLETELY GRATIFYING
Brenda and Stan have an independent streak and they love to come and go as they please, whether it’s lunch at the beach or a swim in the pool. Living in a rental community, with no buy in or homeowner responsibilities adds to their happy-go-lucky lifestyle. Frequent entertainers, they now host dinner parties for 10 or more friends in the dining room and nobody has to do the dishes. Even their apartment is cleaned for them. Plus, as Brenda points out, the people are congenial, the staff is phenomenal and there’s always a party going on. “So here this life is much simpler, much simpler but gratifying completely.” – Brenda Uskavitch
LIFES’S A BEACH
As Stan points out, they didn’t move to The Fountains to die, they moved here to live and they can’t think of a single place on earth they’d rather be. When they gaze out their 12th story windows overlooking Boca Ciega Bay, they can see their old condo, cruise ships motoring underneath the Skyway Bridge and the famous Don Cesar Hotel. So happy in Florida by the bay, Stan and Brenda shudder at the thought of moving north. “Brenda and I don’t want any more north in the wintertime. … We live about a mile from one of the most famous beaches in the world.” – Stan Uzkavitch, resident of The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay
